GA wraps up spring break trip

GERMANTOWN ACADEMY IN MYRTLE BEACH >> GA baseball spent last week in Myrtle Beach at The Ripken Experience facility, going 1-6 on the trip, dropping four one-run games. The Patriots’ lone win came in their opener, a 10-0 victory over Riverside High School (OH), followed by three consecutiv­e one-run defeats. Six of the seven teams GA faced came from the state of Ohio, the seventh opponent was PA-based Peters Township. Ben Werkheiser hit two home runs on the trip and drove in four runs while Drew Yuskevich drove in six combined runs in games against Riverside and Tallmadge,

Jen Byrne went 3-for-5 with three runs scored while Josee Tassoni drove in three runs and scored twice on a 2-for-4 showing at the plate. Gina Fazio had two hits, an RBI and also scored.

Southern Lehigh threatened in the fourth quarter but the Patriots held on. Brad Palmer led GA with four scores while Tony Rosato went 7-for-15 on faceoffs and netted two scores.
