Readers sound off on Facebook about the latest Madison Lot plans

-

Bill Henning: The whole freaking project just keeps getting more and more ridiculous. It is like a runaway freight train and nobody has the [guts] to stop it at this point.

Jacky Schuh: So building more apartments to bring down home values?? How about first we restore old buildings, make the area look nice again. So many run down places. Lansdale has a lot to offer — let’s clean it up first before we lower housing values so low that no one wants to be here anymore.

Joe Kaye: The Main Street area of the downtown area is very sad. Half of the buildings are vacant or look to be. The infrastructure throughout the borough is in disrepair from years of neglect and the powers that be are concerned about a parking lot. Very sad.

Dave Rhodes: I can’t see this plan working out in the best interest for all the people this will affect. I guess the powers that be feel this will help to revitalize the downtown area. I pray it doesn’t have the opposite effect.

Grace Owen Walz: There is so much traffic in Lansdale now. Can’t imagine what it will be like with more apartment houses and the additional traffic that they will bring.

Christine Niciu Mackowiak: Where are people supposed to park? I already avoid going into town because of lack of parking.

Karen Buchmann: I agree about the parking and I think the amount of buildings is a bit much, but I actually think it is a great thing for Lansdale.

Michael Goldstein: I would be for one or two buildings but SEVEN? That is way too much. Council needs to really listen to their constituents on this issue or face being replaced next election.

Shannon Baxter DeBellis: I hope that the council takes a two-pronged approach to the revitalization of Lansdale - building attractive complexes close to transit is fine, but to get people to come, downtown needs a major face lift. There’s about one or two pretty storefronts for five dumpy, ugly (or empty!) ones. Kudos to Scent and Sip, Round Guys, Stove and Tap, and Red Lotus for bringing beauty to Main Street!

Lesley Mort Brey: I’m wondering where and what time of day parking is a problem? I am really curious when the parking issues are happening because I haven’t had them, but maybe it’s my timing versus a higher volume time.
