Grace Bible Church hosts free Easter dinner

SOUDERTON >> Last year, about 160 people — twice as many as the year before — were there for Grace Bible Church’s free Community Easter Dinner.

“I think it’s proven it was very well-needed by the community and we’re glad to do it,” said Carol Doyle, one of the organizing committee members.

The dinner, which this year will be 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, is part of the church’s outreach programs, she said.

About 100 people help with the dinner in a variety of ways, including as food or funds donors or volunteers who help with the cooking, set up and food preparation, servers, greeters, drivers and prayer partners, she said.

About 150 pounds of ham will be prepared for this year’s dinner, she said. There will also be pineapple stuffing, macaroni and cheese, steamed carrots and green beans, green salad, assorted breads and rolls, apple pie, cupcakes, brownies, Rice Krispy treats and beverages.

This year, there will also be free transportation to the dinner from Grundy Manor in Telford and Valley Vista in Souderton because transportation is a problem for some of the senior citizens living there, Doyle said.

“Since we have a church bus, it’s a perfect fit,” she said.

The Valley Vista pick-ups will be at 4:15 p.m. and the Grundy Manor pick-ups at 4:30 p.m.
