Manna tips its hat to 5K sponsors
The food charity held its Sixth Annual Race to End Hunger fundraising event on April 1.
Manna on Main Street held their Sixth Annual Race to End Hunger fundraising event on April 1. The event included a 5K and 5-Mile Race, in addition to Fun Run and the Shopping Cart Challenge.
All proceeds support the Lansdale-based 501(c) (3) charity organization that offers emergency food service for the poor, with a food pantry, soup kitchen, education and emergency financial aid.
To celebrate the event’s sixth year, kids aged six and younger were able to participate free in the Fun Run with a paid adult. Professionally chip timed for the 5-Mile and 5K distances, the flat and fast course started and ended at Knapp Elementary School in Lansdale.
All ages and running abilities were welcomed. The event also featured the Shopping Cart Challenge – Manna’s signature race in which teams of four compete in a 50-yard relay race with shopping carts full of food. Prizes were awarded to the fastest team, the team that collects the most food, and the teams with the best costumes and cart decorations.
Manna’s race is supported by dedicated volunteers who help plan and rise up early to set up for the 8 a.m. start.
