Police: Suspected supplier of marijuana nabbed
“Mr. Nice” and the “Panda Bear Hit Squad” are now in the hands of local police.
Towamencin detectives said that 23-year-old Jeremy Davis of Delaware County had six pounds of marijuana and marijuana gummies edibles branded with the aforementioned names in his car when he was stopped and taken into custody on April 19.
Davis, of the 100 block of Willow Road, had been under investigation since early April for allegedly supplying pot to various weed dealers throughout the North Penn area, police said.
Based on information obtained during the probe, a team of Towamencin cops learned that Davis would be making a marijuana delivery to
the area around noon on Wednesday, and Davis was
stopped by police shortly after getting off the Pennsylvania Turnpike and driving into the township, according to court documents filed in the case.
Davis was told he was being investigated for suspected weed-related activities and a Montgomery Township Police Department K-9 unit was summoned to the scene. The police dog detected controlled substances on the passenger side of the vehicle and Davis was taken into custody due to probable cause that he was in the middle of committing a felony, according to court documents.
Authorities obtained a
search warrant for the vehicle from Lansdale District Judge Edward Levine, and about two hours after the stop, police searched the vehicle and recovered four heat-sealed, halfpound bags of marijuana — three of them marked as “Mr. Nice” — as well as 98 bags labeled “Panda Bear Hit Squad” that each contained two marijuana gummies edibles, charging documents indicate. The total weight of the gummies was almost four pounds.
The total street value of the seized drugs was nearly $13,000, police said.
Cops also found a marijuana joint in Davis’s pocket
during a search of his person after his arrest, according to the police affidavit.
Davis was charged with nine criminal counts, including two counts of felony possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and multiple misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and receipt in commerce of a controlled substance.
Bail was set at 10 percent of $50,000 cash; jail records indicated Friday that Davis has been released from Montgomery County Correctional Facility after posting bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 3.
