Gladys S. Cavella, 83, of Lederach, died peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2017.

She was the wife of the late Guy E. Cavella, her husband of 33 years, who died Nov. 5, 1989.

Born Dec. 18, 1933, in Lancaster, she was the only child of Norman and Mary (Strickler) Shank.

Gladys graduated from Hershey High School (Class of 1952) and Presbyteri­an School of Nursing (Class of 1955).

In addition to her volunteer services with Harleysvil­le Ambulance Company, she worked as a Registered Nurse in the office of Dr. Howard Graham and, later, as a school nurse at Central Montco Vocational Technical School in Lansdale.

Until the past year, Gladys was very involved with the Harleysvil­le Senior Adult Activity Center, where she loved organizing and leading the band until it was dissolved, wood carving, and playing pinochle, and bingo.

Over the years, Gladys traveled extensivel­y, including trips with her daughter, Elaine, to places such as Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Greece and Morocco; bus tours with Hagey and Perkiomen Tours; and various trips despite her declining health with Grand View Hospital’s Easy Breather Group for various cruises and a trip to Alaska.

She is survived by her children, Elaine Carneavale (Keith) of East Norriton, and Eric Cavella (Deedra) of Springfiel­d, TN; five grandchild­ren, Tyler and Justin Carneavale of East Norriton, Jessica Fredericks­on (Kevin) of Oregon, Dr. Jennifer Leggoe (Dr. Scott) of New Jersey, and Carol Smith (Josh) of Tennessee; and five great-grandchild­ren, Hailey, Kylah, Liam, Bryce, and Claire.

She was very excited for the impending arrival of another great-grandson due in May 2017.

Relatives and friends may call between 6 and 8 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. A second viewing will begin 10 a.m. Friday, April 28, at the funeral home, followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributi­ons be made in Gladys’s memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, P.O. Box 222, Conshohock­en, PA 19428, or Encore Experience­s in Harleysvil­le (Senior Center), 312 Alumni Ave., Harleysvil­le, PA 19438.
