Douglas R. Rau, 69, of Hatfield, died Sunday, April 23, 2017.

He was the husband of Marilyn (Dressler) Rau, his beloved wife of 48 years.

Born May 28, 1947, in Lansdale, he was a son of the late Robert and Marian (Frankenfie­ld) Rau.

Mr. Rau was employed in the telephone and communicat­ions industry for many years, retiring from Avaya in 2007.

He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and was a 50-year member of Fairmount Fire Company, Lansdale.

Doug was also a member of Shiloh Lodge 558 F& AM, Lansdale, and a longtime, dedicated member of Lansdale United Methodist Church.

Doug graduated from North Penn High School with the Class of 1965.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing and amateur radio, and he loved fixing things.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Timothy D. Rau (Elizabeth) of Skippack, Rev. Michael S. Rau (Melissa) of Rockledge, PA, and Daniel W. Rau (Alyssa) of Lebanon, PA; eight grandchild­ren, Talie, Will, Kiersten, Peyton, Georgia, Charlie, Lyla, and Bram; sister, Judith Taylor (Ronald) of Chandler, AZ; and brother, Thomas Rau (Kimberly) of Sellersvil­le.

Relatives and friends may call between 6 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. A second viewing will begin 10 a.m. Thursday, April 27, at Church of the Messiah, 1001 Dekalb Pike, Lower Gwynedd, followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributi­ons be made in Mr. Rau’s memory to the Gift of Life Donor Program, 401 N. Third St., Philadelph­ia, PA 19123, or to the Penn Lung Transplant Program, 3400 Civic Center Blvd., Philadelph­ia, PA 19104.
