Former soap star Sabato is running for Congress
Actor and one-time underwear model Antonio Sabato Jr., whose memorable roles have included those on soap operas “General Hospital” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” (and who could forget his performance as “Donald Trump supporter #1” at the Republican convention last year?) is running for Congress.
According to filings with the Federal Election Commission, the cleft-chinned conservative is seeking to unseat California Democratic Rep. Julia Brownley.
Sabato was one of the few celebrities to endorse Trump, and in an interview following his convention speech called then-President Barack Obama a Muslim who was “with the bad guys.”
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, which first reported the actor’s congressional run, Republican strategist and Sabato’s fundraiser Charles Moran touted the actor-turned-candidate’s ties to the president. “Being a Republican and with proximity to the White House and Republican leadership, he’s going to be able to get more done,” Moran said.
Snoop Dogg eyes music festival in dad’s hometown
MAGNOLIA, MISS. >> Rapper Snoop Dogg says he wants to create a music festival in his father’s hometown so he can perform in Mississippi.
“We always stop in New Orleans but we never book a show here. We might as well do it ourselves because my booking agent just won’t do it,” he said during a weekend stop in Magnolia, a south Mississippi city of about 2,400 near the Louisiana state line.
