One driver had to be extricated and another was ticketed for careless driving following a three-vehicle accident on Route 113 (Harleysville Pike) about 3:43 p.m. May 15, Franconia Township Police Department said.

John Landmesser, 71, of North Wales, was driving a large landscaping truck south on Route 113 that hit the back of a 2003 Kia Spectra driven by Doris Bailey, who was stopped on Route 113 to make a left turn into Franconia Heritage restaurant, Franconia Township Police Officer Eric Frary said. The impact from the collision propelled Bailey’s vehicle into the opposite lane, where it collided with the left rear side of a vehicle driven by Carrie Ghormley, 33, of Hatfield, he said.

Bailey was extricated from her vehicle by Perseverance Volunteer Fire Co. of Souderton and taken by Souderton Community Ambulance to Grand View Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

The other drivers and two children in the Ghormley vehicle were not injured, police said.

Landmesser was ticketed for careless driving, police said.

Route 113 was closed between Allentown and Meetinghouse roads for a little more than an hour, Frary said.

In addition to Perseverance Volunteer Fire Company and Souderton Community Ambulance, Telford and Souderton police departments and Souderton fire police assisted at the scene.
