GA AT INTER-AC CHAMPIONSHIPS >> Germantown Academy’s boys and girls track teams competed at the Inter Ac Championships Monday. The boys finished second overall, and the girls finished third.

Junior Kyle Garland scored 40 points (the most possible) by winning the high jump, shot put, 110 high hurdles, and 300 hurdles. In the high jump, Garland missed his first two attempts at 6-9 after PC’s Akeem Blake made his first attempt. Garland opted to pass his final jump at 6-9, meaning he would get one jump at 6-10 to stay in the competition. After the wind blew the bar down on his first approach, Garland cleared the height, ultimately winning the competition in a new meet record of 6-10. He also had to set a new school record of 51-5 to take the shot put competition. In the 300 hurdles, Garland was actually behind going over the final hurdle, but his dive at the line gave him the victory by .03 seconds (for another school record)
