Yeah, there’s an app for that.

Delco’s iconic — and ubiquitous — convenience store chain has introduced an app that allows customers to order ahead for fresh food and beverages.

The app allows for mobile ordering for all Wawa Rewards members, with a registered gift card, across the company’s sixstate operating area. The app went live Wednesday. Wawa said a recent survey of its Rewards members found more than 67 percent of respondents said they have ordered or purchased food using their phone within the last month. It said it decided to introduce the mobile ordering option to give customers more flexibility when it comes to placing orders.

In addition to mobile ordering, Wawa customers can use the Wawa app to:

• Pay in-store with a registered gift card.

• Sign up for, earn and redeem Wawa Rewards.

• Check hours of operation and find directions to the nearest Wawa.

• Check fuel prices and get real-time fuel prices at Wawa fuel stores.

• View nutrition information and plan a meal.

The Wawa mobile app which features the Wawa Rewards program is free and can be downloaded using the App Store for Apple devices and through Google Play for Android devices.

Wawa Rewards launched in January of 2015, and all of Wa-

wa’s 750 stores accept mobile payments through the Wawa mobile app, enabling customers to make in-store purchases. In 2016, more than 10 million rewards were distributed to members.

“Wawa Rewards usage continues to grow in our stores, and this added benefit will drive further increases,” spokeswoman Lori Bruce said.

“Using the mobile app allows a member to not only order from their phone, but also save favorites for the future.”

Customers may still call the store to place an order if the choose, Bruce added.

Wawa believes it is tapping into a trend that will continue and expects to add services.

“We do see this as a growing trend,” Bruce said. “We

continue to explore opportunities to provide a more convenient experience for our customers, and are currently exploring delivery options.”

Also on Thursday, published reports said Wawa is planning to announce new stores in Washington, D.C.

The chain is planning to detail its D.C. plans at a June 13 event at the Newseum, according to a notice for the event posted on Prince of Petworth, a popular D.C. neighborhood blog that first reported the news, the reports said.

The notice said Chris Gheysens, Wawa’s chief executive, would discuss the company’s timeline and store-design plans for the District.

Wawa has more than 700 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Florida.

The company did not immediate respond to questions about its plans in Washington, D.C.
