Fight hunger with Nightingale Challenge
Businesses to host fundraisers to benefit Manna on Main Street
LANSDALE >> In the spirit of celebrated social reformer Florence Nightingale, Manna on Main Street again invites community businesses to make a difference to feed the hungry. Manna serves the poor including seniors, children and families of all sizes.
Now in its 11th year, the Florence Nightingale Challenge engages local companies to raise funds to support Manna on Main Street and its core emergency food, financial and education programs. Whether businesses raise $10 or $10,000 through this Challenge, their support to help the hungry makes a real difference.
The Florence Nightingale Challenge is a year-long program, from May 15 – April 30, so companies have a full year to hold their fundraiser. All Challenge participants are invited to the awards ceremony in late April. Manna encourages companies to be creative and engage their employees to capitalize on this community endeavor. For example, past fundraisers include a car shows, kick-a-thons, zumba dance-a-thon, casual Friday collections, and more. For companies with limited time and resources, raffles and change jars are easy ways to participate.
Previous participants have shared the added benefits of engaging in the Chal-
lenge: Rebecca Kreitsek, SVP Human Resources & Contributor Development for Dorman Products, 2016 top fundraiser says, “We’ve learned the joy of working together as we helped others and it is a priceless way
to build morale and create company traditions.”
