Emma R. Bradley, 92, of Lansdale, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017, of natural causes.

Born in Philadelphia in 1924, she was a daughter of the late Clarence R. and Emma C. (Kastner) Bradley.

Emma grew up in Philadelphia, where she played baseball with the neighborhood children, loved riding her bicycle and sang in the church choir.

In her 20s, Emma secured an administrative position with Merck, Sharp and Dohme in Philadelphia and later moved to Lansdale to work in Merck’s brand-new facility.

In addition to her position at Merck, Emma often commuted to Wildwood to help her parents with the family shore property rental business.

Later, Emma purchased and ran her own shore rental for several more years before selling and attaining a supervisory position with Unysis in Blue Bell until her retirement.

Upon retirement, Emma would spend all her summers at her Wildwood Crest residence with her dear friend Marguerite Marshall. The two became an institution on their Pittsburgh Avenue porch, where they would meet, greet and speak with all who passed by on the way to and from the beach.

Emma’s loves included her beloved Poodle, GiGi; her dearest friend, Marguerite (Marge) Marshall, who passed away in 2005 after a battle with lung cancer; and afternoon lunches and cocktails with favorite wait staff at many of their preferred local establishments (William Penn Inn, Century House, Casey’s).

Emma’s hobbies and interests were boundless, including cats and dogs, dancing, big band music, playing the organ, reading, Byers Choice, FOX News, the Christmas season, baseball and ice-cream.

Emma had an uncanny way of having all who met her grow to love her. Her sharp wit, “Cheshire cat” smile and laughter will be sorely missed. However, it will be her ability to listen, draw, share and teach from her own life’s lessons, her kind and loving heart and her generosity that will be so incredibly hard to live without.

Surviving are those nearest and dearest to her, her “adopted” daughter, Letitia Alderfer; “adopted” son, Grant Wolfgang; cousins, Karen Seybolt Costello (James); Catherine Carter; and dearest friends, Catherine Wolfgang, James Guenst and Claire Fiandra.

Relatives and friends will be received by her family after 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, in the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, and are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.

If desired, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org, or to the Pennsylvania SPCA, https://pspca.org/support-us/donate/, two of Emma’s favorite charities.

Arrangements entrusted to the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
