A.D. Moyer Lumber buys Berks Products division
Kutztown location opens a new market for the building materials company
A.D. Moyer Lumber has announced it has purchased the Building Materials and Millwork Division of Berks Products in Kutztown.
The Kutztown location, at 80 Willow St., is the fourth for A.D. Moyer Lumber, a fourth-generation, family-owned business, which also has locations in Gilbertsville, Pottstown and Bethlehem.
Some new jobs are expected to be added to the new facility, according to a press release, and many of the former Berks Products’ employees will continue to work at the Kutztown location.
“This acquisition opens a new market for A.D. Moyer deeper in Eastern Berks County, permitting us to better service builders and remodelers of all business sizes in a shorter time period,” said Ron Schock, A.D. Moyer director of marketing, estimating and installed sales. “In the past we’ve had to provide delivery to that area from our Bethlehem or Gilbertsville locations. Now having a foothold in Kutztown, we can more quickly service a broader region.”
Rick Youse, who has been employed by A.D. Moyer since 1974, most recently as operations manager in Pottstown, will co-manage the Kutztown location with Todd Cleaver, former Berks Products Millwork division manager.
“I look forward to the challenge of bringing the 78 years of A.D. Moyer Lumber’s culture to the Kutztown store,” Youse said in a statement. “The company is ex-
cited to become a contributing member of the Berks County community, to continue serving large builders and developers in the region, and to bring A.D. Moyer’s excellent level of personal service, quality, and commitment to all builders and remodelers.”
Ben Egolf and Alex Moyer will
share sales-management responsibilities at the Pottstown location.
Schock adds that initial feedback from customers of the former Berks Products has been positive.
“They are looking forward to A.D. Moyer bringing a higher-quality product, deeper inventory replenished quickly with transfers between stores, on-time deliveries, experience and desire to service the smaller builders and remodelers in addition to the large developers,” he said.
