Whitpain rallies to force tie

It was a game Whitpain probably should have lost.

But Thursday night the Pain Train looked a six-run deficit in the eye and didn’t blink.

Instead, the home team scored six times in the home sixth to forge a 9-all tie with Valley Forge in a game halted after six innings due to darkness.

Andrew Seitz drove in a pair of runs with a double and Joel Bjordanian brought home another with a two-bagger as Whitpain ignored their guest’s upset plans and forced a deadlock from a very precarous position.

The Generals drew first blood via a first-inning Luke Turner sacrifice fly, but Whitpain got that run back, plus one, in a two-run second that featured a two-out Generals error and Ben Maltin’s two-run double.

But after a scoreless second, the Generals used a three-run double by Kyle Roberts to key a four-run third and a two-run double by

Ryan McAteer to produce a four-run fourth.

Whitpain’s only response was a run via a wild pitch in the fourth.

But the home team was not through.

Two walks and a bunt single quickly loaded the

bases in the home sixth, and Valley Forge could not find the off switch.

Seitz followed with a tworun double to left and the rally was on.

Before the Generals could find the inningender, Whitpain had tied the score and were pressing for more.

Fortunately for the visiting Generals, the contest was ended by darkness.
