United Friends School middle school students participated in the annual Junior Solar Sprint car race at the Philadelphia Naval Yard on June 3. Students designed and built solar cars as part of their studies of sustainable energy. The students received Technical Merit for their innovative car design. The school has been participating in the Junior Solar Sprint car race in Philadelphia since 2004. Several hundred students from the region enter the race every year.
