Scholarshi­p recipients encouraged to persevere

The National Associatio­n of University Women-Suburban Philadelph­ia hosted their annual Scholarshi­p Awards Luncheon at Montgomery County Community College in Whitpain on June 10. The organizati­on, headed by President Natasha A. Patterson who is also full time faculty at Montgomery County Community College, awarded three college scholarshi­ps and a book award totaling $6,000 to high school seniors in the area. Every year the organizati­on hosts fundraisin­g events to provide the scholarshi­ps. The keynote speaker for the luncheon was, Ricardo Calderón, head of the Philadelph­ia Youth Commission. Nia Andrews, Miss Philadelph­ia, also spoke with students about making an impact on their own communitie­s.
