Scholarship recipients encouraged to persevere
The National Association of University Women-Suburban Philadelphia hosted their annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon at Montgomery County Community College in Whitpain on June 10. The organization, headed by President Natasha A. Patterson who is also full time faculty at Montgomery County Community College, awarded three college scholarships and a book award totaling $6,000 to high school seniors in the area. Every year the organization hosts fundraising events to provide the scholarships. The keynote speaker for the luncheon was, Ricardo Calderón, head of the Philadelphia Youth Commission. Nia Andrews, Miss Philadelphia, also spoke with students about making an impact on their own communities.
