Woman waives hearing in disorderly conduct case
Cayla Lunemann, 18, had two of three charges withdrawn in connection with alleged March incident at North Penn High School
Two of three criminal charges have been withdrawn against an 18-year-old woman accused of disorderly conduct at North Penn High School during a pot investigation in March, according to police.
Cayla Elizabeth Lunemann, of the 1000 block of Garrison Lane, appeared via summons for a preliminary hearing at Lansdale district court on June 27 and waived one count of third-degree misdemeanor disorderly conduct after prosecutors agreed to drop misdemeanor counts of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court records.
Towamencin police have alleged in a criminal complaint that cops responded to the high school that morning after security officers there said they wanted law enforcement on location while they searched a vehicle they believed had drugs in it, and because Lunemann, a school student and the owner of the car, was causing a scene.
Upon arrival, police discovered Lunemann inside the main entrance of the school acting “belligerently” and repeatedly screaming obscenities at school staff, growing even more enraged and appearing “completely out of control” even after cops told her to calm down or possibly be arrested for disorderly conduct.
Police eventually detained Lunemann, put her in handcuffs and took her to a nearby conference room, where she continued her loud, obscenity-laden outburst and kicked chairs and vertical window blinds, according to police, who said she could be heard from several offices away.
A search of her vehicle turned up a plastic bag containing a small amount of marijuana, as well as a metal grinder containing marijuana residue, according to the complaint.
Lunemann is free on her own recognizance while awaiting her Aug. 16 formal arraignment in county court.
