Three words: “Food • Music • Friends.”

That’s how the Indian Valley Beer Fest describes itself.

Now in it’s seventh year, this year’s craft beer festival benefitting Indian Valley Public Library and the neighboring Lutheran Community at Telford runs 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 22, in a tent on the library grounds at 100 E. Church Avenue in Telford.

A VIP session, with early admission, VIP-only beers and food by Cura Hospitality, is 4 to 5:30 p.m.

“We expect about 500 to 600 people,” said Bob Schoen, chairman of the library’s Capital De-

velopment Committee.

About 40 different brews will be available for sampling, plus those in the home brew competition, he said.

“The public really likes the home brew beer contest,” said Telford resident Joe Pfahler, the competition coordinator.

Twelve finalists from the contest entries are chosen

to bring their home brew to the beer fest, he said.

Pfahler said he doesn’t know ahead of time the beers that will be brought, but said, “There’s a large variety of different types of beers,” along with the possibility of some ciders.

Each of the finalists brings in five gallons of their beer to be served to the beer fest attendees, he said.

This year’s home brew competition is sponsored by Free Will Brewing, of Perkasie; North Penn Beverage, of Souderton; and Keystone Homebriew Supply, of Montgomeryville.

The winner of the Judges Favorites Award gets gift certificates to Keystone Homebrew Supply, with the winner of the popular vote from attendees getting gift certificates to North Penn Beverage.

A new Brewer’s Choice Award, by Free Will Brewing, is being added this year. The winner will get a barrel tasting and private tour of the sour cellar with a Free Will brewer.

The winner of both the judges’ and popular vote awards in both 2015 and 2016 was Neil Aldridge.

The judges chose Andrew Phengvath for second place in 2016, with the popular vote going to Greg Martin. Third place in the 2016 judging went to Charles & Jeannette Reed, with the popular vote going to Michael Sharp.

Rollin’ and Tumblin’ will provide the musical entertainment at this year’s fest.

Food will be available from Jessie’s Barbecue and Wow Wagon food trucks.
