Joan H. Clayton, 84, of Quakertown and formerly of Colmar, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul H. Clayton, her husband of 55 years.

Born February 20, 1933 in Lansdale, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Mabel (Scheetz) Bargher.

Mrs. Clayton was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmothe­r. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, Hatfield, where she enjoyed volunteeri­ng at Stepping Stones Nursery School.

Joan was a member of the Colmar Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was employed with Harriet Carter, North Wales, for many years.

Joan loved her vacations to Ocean City and Cape May, NJ, and Florida. She also shared many great times with her friends and family dining out at Roy Ann’s, Zoto’s, and Keystone Diners. Joan enjoyed hosting many large family gatherings at her Colmar home.

Survivors include her daughters, Jean Coffey (Mark) of Aliso Viejo, CA, and Audrey deGruchy (Andrew) of Quakertown; six grandchild­ren, Benjamin Coffey (Rose), Emily Daniel (Jeffrey), Avery deGruchy (Megan), Wesley deGruchy, Clayton deGruchy, and Etielle deGruchy; and two great-granddaugh­ters, June and Abigail.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Emma; sister Mabel (and brother-in-law Herbert); and brother, Robert.

Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church, 40 N. Main St., Hatfield, PA 19440, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler. Arrangemen­ts are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
