Charles M. “Bud” Shettsline, 88, of Harleysvil­le, passed on to be with his wife, Bette, of 63 years on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017.

Born Oct. 28, 1928, in Philadelph­ia, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Anna (Dougherty) Shettsline.

Mr. Shettsline graduated from Olney High School and directly enlisted in The United States Marine Corps.

He served two tours, one in World War II and the next in Korea with the AAA Battalion, 2nd Infantry. He was a Master Sargent and Handgun Instructor.

After his honorable discharge, Bud worked for Walker Cadillac in Jenkintown and met Bette. They raised four children, Theresa Sweitzer (Clarence) of Wyomissing, PA, Dr. James Shettsline of North Wales, PA, Charles “Chuck” Shettsline (Mari) of Colorado, and Coach Robert “Shetts” Shettsline of Plumsteads­ville, PA (fiancee Lisa Koehler); nine grandchild­ren; and two great-grandchild­ren. Also surviving are Bette’s siblings, Leo Schladensk­y, GA, Robert Schladensk­y and partner Faye Shannon, NC and Linda Geselbrach­t, TN.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bette; daughterin law, Christine CampbellSh­ettsline; and brothers and sister-in laws, Jack and Marie Shettsline and James and Pat Shettsline.

Bud also worked for Webb Cadillac, Jenkintown, and Henkel-McCoy Trucking as security.

He pursued his teaching certificat­ion from Temple University and taught votech as an automotive instructor.

He shared his love of football as a North Penn Youth Football coach.

He and Bette were avid fans of the North Penn Wrestling Team for many years cheering both Chuck and Robert on the mats and then cheering on Coach “Shetts” young athletes.

Bud also enjoyed the comradery of the members of Boulder Valley Sportsmen Club.

Relatives and friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Mass at noon.

Burial will be private in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.

The Family wishes to express their gratitude to Ascend Hospice Care, the Team on Second Floor, Elm Terrace Gardens, and friends and staff of Park View Apartments.
