A 38-yearold Philadelphia man is facing a half-dozen criminal counts for allegedly injuring a woman in a hit-andrun crash in Hatfield Town- ship last month, according to police.

William Norman Tisdale, Jr., of the 1900 block of Granite Street, has been charged with misdemeanor counts of accidents involving death or personal injury, accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed and accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property, as well as summary counts of failure to stop and give information or render aid, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, and failure to immediately notify police of an accident.

Police said in charging documents that on the night of July 25, a vehicle later determined to be associated with Tisdale struck a woman’s car as she was leaving the Snyder Square shopping center at 1550 Cowpath Road. The driver of the striking vehicle got out and inspected the damage along with the woman, then said to the woman several times that his car sustained more damage than hers, according to a criminal complaint. The woman told the driver that her neck was sore as a result of the collision, according to police, and as she started to make a phone call, the driver got back into his car and fled the scene.

The woman was able to get the first three numbers of the license plate, and cops found Tisdale’s vehicle a short time later parked on the 100 block of Market Street, police said.

Investigators said that a photo of Tisdale matched the description of the driver the woman provided. Cops located Tisdale later and he admitted to crashing into the woman’s car but claimed he didn’t think she wanted to file a police report, so he left the scene, according to the complaint.

Police determined that Tisdale’s license was suspended at the time of the accident, the complaint indicates.

The woman suffered injuries to her neck, back and a tooth as a result of the crash, police said, and her car sustained roughly $1,000 worth of damage.

A summons was issued for Tisdale to appear in Lansdale district court on Oct. 3 for a preliminary hearing.
