Edward A. DeHorsey Sr. of Eagleville.

Edward A. DeHorsey Sr., age 76, of Eagleville, was at home with his wife by his side when he went to be with Jesus on September 1, 2017, following a long illness.

Ed was born in Lansdale on Easter Sunday morning, April 13, 1941, son of the late Dorothy (McGowan) and Edward J. DeHorsey.

“Special Ed,” “EddieBob,” “Pap,” as he was affectionately known, will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for his love for Jesus, generosity and love for his family. Ed worked in sales for many years and recognized his dream of opening his own business, ECS Cleaning Service, in the mid-1970s, specializing in fire and smoke damage restoration. Upon closing his business and retiring, he drove for Balgo Transportation, driving children with special needs throughout Montgomery County. Ed loved the students and his co-workers and missed this greatly when his health no longer allowed him to work.

Ed graduated from North Penn High School in 1959, where he played trumpet in the marching band. In his younger years he was an avid bowler. He met his wife, Pat, while roller skating and married “his Angel,” “Trixie,” in 1963.

He loved gardening, taking care of his pool, watching the Phillies, regular trips to Arizona, going to the beach with his family, fishing, playing games, listening to music, especially Gaither Gospel and ’50s music, and counting down the days until Christmas. Ed was active as a small group leader at his church, Fairview Village Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia, of Eagleville; four children, Kimberly L., wife of William A Brown, Dresher, Kelly L. Longfield, Manahawkin, NJ, Kyna B., wife of Peter McCullagh, Royersford and Edward Jr., Eagleville; nine grandchildren, Liz, Kaitlyn, Abbey, Erica, Billy, Benjamin, Olivia, Nate and Megan; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law and dear friend, R. David Fritz.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at Fairview Village Church of the Nazarene, 3044 W. Germantown Pike, Eagleville, PA, on Friday, September 8, with greeting of friends and family commencing at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Ed’s wishes were for donations to be made to Celebrate the Journey at Fairview Village Church of the Nazarene. Checks can be made out to Fairview Village Church of the Nazarene with “Celebrate the Journey” on the memo line.
