Violet Owen Myers of Lansdale; Kathleen Marie Stagliano of Hatfield.

Violet Owen Myers, 101, a longtime Lansdale resident, passed away on Sept. 24, 2017, at St. Mary Center for Rehabilitation & Health Care in Lansdale, where she had been a resident since 2002.

She was the wife of the late Ernest Owen and the late Thomas Myers.

Born April 28, 1916, in Liverpool, England, she was the daughter of the late George T. and the late Violet (nee Ellis) Provett.

Violet earned her Registered Nurse degree in England, and immigrated to the United States on Dec. 18, 1957, becoming an American citizen in 1972.

She was the administrator of the former Angeline Nursing Home in Montgomery Township for 34 years. Her last 10 years of employment were spent as the administrator of Harston Hall, Springfield Township, until retiring in 1994 at age 78. Upon retirement, she immediately became a volunteer for RSVP, reaching out to many people.

She was a fellow of the American College of Nursing Home Administrators, and a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Lansdale, and the former Secretary of the church’s Legion of Mary Organization. Violet was also a member and a former President of The Legion of Mary Organization at St. Mary Center for Rehabilitation & Health Care.

Violet is survived by her daughters, Marie Morley (William), of England, Bernadette Goldstein (the late Jack), of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Valerie Ann Costigan (the late Edward A.), of Chadds Ford, PA; her five granddaughters; and her four great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, in the Chapel of the St. Mary Center for Rehabilitation & Health Care, 701 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446 where her Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to either the Salvation Army, 533 Swede St., P.O. Box 308, Norristown, PA 19404, or to Catholic Charities & Social Services, 222 N. 17th St., Philadelphia, PA 19103, and would be deeply appreciated by her family.
