Dr. Charles George Deutermann; Ruth Emma Krout Miller of Lansdale.
The life story of Dr. Charles George Deutermann was rich and thick. Chuck, was born in Bronxville, NY on February 25, 1937. Family preceding his death were father Theodore Deutermann, mother Marjorie Heath Deutemann, sister Peggy Lou Stanfield, and wives Regina Trainor and Faith Deutermann. His younger brother Guy lives in Marathon FL. Craig Deutemann is Charles’ oldest son and resides in Perkiomenville PA (fiancé Katherine Wallach); also living there is youngest daughter Diana McKee (Phillip). Bonny Moser, his oldest daughter (Scott), lives in Harleysville PA. Youngest son Theodore (Eric) enjoys life in Kerhonkson in New York. Chuck also has a stepson, William Simsick (Karen), and stepdaughter, Cheryl Blake (Robert). Chuck had 12 grandchildren, one niece, three nephews and one late nephew.
He lived his childhood in White Plains, New York, and worked as a paperboy and as a gas station attendant while attending White Plains High School. Having a strong work ethic, Chuck worked as a painter while attending college at State University of New York in Albany. He later taught biology and physics at Hudson High School in Hudson New York. He bought and restored a Colonial-era home while living in it with his young family. After breaking his front tooth cranking an antique tractor, he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. As a student, he taught lab techniques. After graduation, he became an instructor in the college clinic.
In 1970 Chuck joined Terry Roberts in a small general dentistry practice. Together with great vision and mission they built and opened Brookwood Dental in 1972 receiving a land conservation award. Chuck loved being a dentist, and the practice grew, maintaining loyal long-term staff, and friendships.
Chuck retired in 2004 in Marathon Florida, boating and socializing with friends. He was always the life of the party. He enjoyed boats of all kinds. Chuck had a great appreciation for life. He filled his days making sure he got the most out of it! Some hobbies were boating, scuba, golf, fishing, car racing, skiing, travel, financial advising, gardening, snowmobiling, motorcycling, jewelry making, woodworking and religious studies.
Chuck made many contributions and lived in the service of others. Some community contributions were setting up dental clinics in Haiti, Lions Club president and member, SPCA, dolphin rescue, building Boy Scout cabins, Independence Cay homeless shelter, and stewardship chairmen and church activities. His humble wish was to be remembered as an honest, caring Christian. Those wishing to donate may remember Chuck by contributing to a charity of their choice.
