Walter Kriebel, 91, of Souderton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, in the Souderton Mennonite Homes in Franconia Township.

He was the high school sweetheart and then beloved husband of 67 years to the late Doris M. (Boehm) Kriebel, who died in 2016.

Born in Towamencin, he was the son of the late Earl S. and Lizzie (Nace) Kriebel.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served from 1944 to 1946 in the Atlantic and Pacific theatres.

He was employed as a machine shop foreman for Brooks Instrument­s in Hatfield for more than 35 years prior to his retirement. He then went on to work for North American Draeger, Inc. in Telford for five years.

A devoted husband and wonderful father, he was a gentle and patient man with a contagious laugh.

He was active with Boy Scout Troop 461, where he served as treasurer.

In his free time he also enjoyed fishing, skiing, gardening, and sharing Navy stories.

He is survived by a son, Keith Kriebel, and his wife, Linda Wells, of Poulsbo, WA; a daughter, Denise Rupert, and her husband Jim, of Schwenksvi­lle; three grandchild­ren, Cole, Sydney and Lindsey; and sister-in-law, Jean Benner, and her husband, Don, of Harleysvil­le.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marion Wallace and Helen Shelly.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in the Summit View Auditorium of the Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, PA 18964. Interment will follow in the Towamencin Schwenkfel­der Cemetery in Worcester. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

Contributi­ons may be made in his memory to the Agape Fund of the Souderton Mennonite Homes at the above address.
