Fellow Franconia supervisor supports incumbents running for re-election
I would like to inform everyone what a wonderful and very qualified team we have serving our Franconia Township community. Two “team” members are up for re-election on Tuesday, Nov. 7. I could impress you with all of their advanced degrees, and all of the other boards and volunteer organizations that they have served throughout their lives, but those are just the kinds of things you put on resumes. These men, Grey Godshall and Dr. Charlie Amuso, are and have been a very important part of the team that supports the smooth running of our community. Aside from their outstanding qualifications, what makes these two men so special is that they truly care about our community. They do not care if the issues are Republican or Democrat, or if they involve someone they grew up with or someone they do not know. They always consider what is the right thing to do, what our code book allows us to do, what is best for our township, and what is best for our residents.
These men are not running to satisfy their egos. If you look back at their past, you will find that their entire lives have been dedicated to some sort of volunteering service.
Grey Godshall is and has been the chairperson of our board now for about three years, and he has served on the board for the past 18 years. We are grateful for his leadership and the depth of his knowledge about the township and the codes that we must follow and adhere to while making decisions to govern. Because of his history in our township, Grey has a good understanding that some of the newer board members do not always have. Without bias or influence, Grey will just help provide the background on issues so that all have an understanding to make good decisions. Grey also has the courage to make the difficult decisions that are not often popular. This is great leadership.
Dr. Charlie Amuso, a recently retired businessman and former superintendent of the Souderton Area School District, brings much management and leadership experience to our board through his past careers. Charlie is just one of those people that continues to give back through all his past and present volunteering activities, with special mention to his long involvement and commitment to the Souderton/Telford Rotary Club. Charlie, like Grey, has the courage to stand by unpopular decisions when necessary.
Franconia Township is a great place to live. It is a safe community — the 10th safest in Pennsylvania according to Gov. Tom Wolfe. The township taxes are low — the lowest in the region. The township has one of the most aggressive open space programs to keep the community beautiful and the impact on the infrastructure and tax base as low as possible. All this is the result of a Board of Supervisors that has the best interests of the community as the focus of all that they do. They are experienced public officials who know how to manage the township services in a way that is efficient and very effective. They have a focus on keeping the township in accordance with the wishes of the residents, while complying with state and federal requirements placed on the township. They should be chosen by the voters to continue as members of the Board of Supervisors in the election on Nov. 7. David B. Fazio Franconia Township Supervisor
