Kennett L. Slater of Lansdale
Kennett L. Slater, 91, of Lansdale, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 24, at his home.
He was the husband of Mary (Hayes) Slater for 67 years.
Born Jan. 11, 1926, in Jensen, FL, he was a son of the late Kennett and Edna (Matt) Slater.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was among the first troops to liberate Dachau.
He worked as a district manager for Standard Register for many years. After his retirement, he worked in the Montgomery County Voter Services Office in Norristown.
Surviving with his wife are sons, Thomas J. Slater (Minnie) of Norwich, VT, Kennett Slater of Hopland, CA, and David E. Slater of Thorndale; daughter Edna M. Slater of Harleysville; grandchildren, Lt. Col. Gregory Pavlichko, Brian Pavlichko, Kristen Jernigan, Danielle Knippenberg, Thomas Slater, Emily Slater, and Joy Slater; great-grandchildren, Baily, Jaxson, Brandon, Chase, Audra, and Brooke; brothers Donald J. Slater, and William M. Slater; sister, Edna Ruthann Hoffman; and son-in-law, Scott Shelton. He was predeceased by a daughter, Christine M. Shelton, and a brother, Raymond E. Slater.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446. A visitation will precede the Mass from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 5300 Chester Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19143.
