Lansdale Catholic and ConwellEgan games are always a battle, and the fact this one comes deep into November adds a little spice.

“The guys are excited, and I think Egan feels the same way,” Crusaders coach Tom Kirk said of next week’s District 1/12-3A Regional, with the winner heading to states. “I think we’d both be disappointed if we weren’t playing each other this week. Hopefully it’s a good game. We always have exciting games, pretty physical games, and I don’t expect it to be anything less.

“It’s unusual to get (a match-up between us) this far into the playoffs. Coach (Jack) Techtmann and I, we’ve known each other for a lot of years and I really do think we both feel the same way, that whoever moves on will be happy for the other and the other one that doesn’t move on will be disappointed but at least they’ll still be represented by the Catholic League.”

The Crusaders took the regular-season battle, 31-21, back on Sept. 29. With their 42-30 victory on Saturday against High School of the Future, the LC offense and ground game goes into the rematch with the rival Eagles with plenty of steam.

“It’s gonna be a great game,” Casee said. “It’s playoff football. It’s gonna be exciting and we’ll see how it goes.”

Casee at the bat

Casee, who gained 164 yards on Saturday to surpass the 1,000-yard plateau for the season, managed to have a big day on the ground despite a rough week.

“I found out on Monday that Matt ended up in the hospital on (the night of Nov. 4) with kidney stones,” Kirk said. “I think he’s

the first 18-year-old I ever heard of to have kidney stones (laugh), so fortunately that’s taken care of and we can move on.”

Casee, overcoming all, now has 1,127 yards on the season for the Crusaders as
