Sunday, Nov. 19: The Montgomery County Concert Band wraps up the 23rd season at 3 pm at the Souderton Area High School, for a trip on Oceans, Rivers, and Seas. Selections include “Manhattan Beach,” “The Tall Ship,” “The Winds of Poseidon,” “The Isle of Calypso,” “The Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Dead Man’s Chest,” “Spoon River” and “Water is Wide,” featuring soprano soloist Teresa Washam. The band is directed by Charles Neidhardt, former Music Department Chairperson for the Methacton School District, assisted by Ryan Pongras, Elementary Music Educator in the Souderton School District, and Bret Mascaro, former Music Educator at Methacton. The featured soloist, Teresa Washam, is the Choir Director at Souderton Area High School and has been teaching music for 33 years. At the high school she conducts 4 choirs and advises student run a cappella groups. The concert is free and open to the public and the facility is handicap accessible. Free will donations will be accepted. The Band is also collecting canned goods to benefit Manna on Main Street, so please bring a non-perishable food item to donate.
PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN IVAN STILES
Tuesday, Nov. 21: Professional musician Ivan Stiles, autoharp and more, will entertain the Afternoon Music Club of Phoenixville on Tuesday, November 21, at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Phoenixville, 865 S. Main Street, Phoenixville. The club, which has been in continuous operation since 1945, welcomes guests for a nominal donation for the concert at the door and invites all to refreshments after the program and brief meeting. 15TH ANNUAL BOBBY NATALINI JR. BLOOD DRIVE
Wednesday, Nov. 22: The
15th annual Bobby Natalini Jr. Blood Drive will be held Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Titus Church, 3006 Keenwood Road, East Norriton. Bobby Natalini Jr. was a student at Norristown Area High School when he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. He passed way in 2002 just 2 months before his 18th birthday. For the past 14 years the Natalini family has been sponsoring this blood drive in Bobby’s honor, and have raised more than 1,200 blood donations to save more than 3,860 lives. Week of November 26 MONTCO SENIOR CHOIR PERFORMANCE
Sunday, Nov. 26: The Montco Senior Concert Choir will be presenting their annual Christmas concert at Asbury United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 26 at 2:00 P.M. The concert will feature music that is based on the religious significance of the holiday as well as secular elements. The Montco Senior Concert Choir is comprised of seniors 55 and over and consists of approximately 20 men and women. Most are from Montgomery County, but some are from Delaware and Bucks counties. The choir is led by Tedd Didden, who also serves as the organist and choir director at Asbury. The concert is free and open to the public. Asbury UMC is located at the corner of Pine and Freedley streets across from Montgomery Fire Company. In addition to street parking, concertgoers may park in the parking lot behind the fire company. Please do not park in the first row, which is reserved for firefighters.
Week of December 3 DESIGNER BAG BINGO
Sunday, Dec. 3: Norristown Maenner-Chor, 920 Haws Ave, Norristown, PA 19401, is hosting Designer Bag Bingo, featuring bags by Coach, Michael Kors, Vera Bradley and other top designers. Doors open at noon and Bingo begins at 1 p.m. Cost is $25 for regular Bingo, specials are available for 3 for $5; jackpot Bingo, coverall 3 for $ 5. Raffles and 50-50 will also be available. KID’S MOVIE CLUB
Third Saturdays of the month:
The Centre Theater will launch the new Kid’s Movie Club on the first floor in a newly renovated space that holds 40 movie-goers. On the third Saturday of every month beginning at 10:30 a.m. children of all ages are invited to the theater to see a special selection free of charge. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The Centre Theater is located at 208 DeKalb St. in Norristown. There is free parking on the street and a parking garage less than a hundred yards away from the theater.
