Gwen A. Collins, 57, of Lansdale, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 in Milford, CT.
Born July 9, 1960, she was the daughter of Jean (Litzenberg) Collins Lowe of Lansdale, and the late Glenn A. Collins.
She had only been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer mid-September, but put up a valiant fight until the end. Gwen was always filled with love, patience and concern for others, and kept her sense of humor, even throughout her hospitalizations. Gwen was a very vibrant and spiritual woman having been involved in a plethora of activities throughout her lifetime. Some of her most meaningful include volunteering with therapy dogs and being an active participant of the Lansdale United Methodist congregation. Her most prized possessions were her family. This was greatly exemplified by the excellent care she took of her Mom, especially throughout the last 7 years when she suffered with Dementia. Gwen’s face beamed with joy when spending time with her nieces and great nieces.
Surviving with her mother are her sisters, Karen Collins McCarthy and Linda Collins Grenus; brother-in-laws, Tom McCarthy, and Joe Grenus; nieces, Jaclyn Grenus Cyphers, husband Mark, Sam Grenus, Britt Grenus and Karen Ann McCarthy; great nieces, Brooke and Hallie Cyphers; aunt, Ann Litzenberg, and a wide extended family. She also leaves behind her beloved golden retrievers, Heidi and Murphy.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, December 9th at Huff and Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, PA. A calling will precede the service from 2 to 3:30 at the funeral home.
