John R. Holland, Jr., 70, of Souderton and formerly of Harleysvil­le, passed away in the early hours of the morning Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelph­ia, after a fierce battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. He was the beloved husband of Linda M. (nee Steiger) Holland.

Born April 18, 1947 in Upland Borough, PA, he was the son of the late John R. and Hilda (nee Hyatt) Holland, Sr.

John grew up in Boothwyn, Delaware County PA, and spent much of his childhood exploring the surroundin­g woods, and boating in the Chesapeake Bay. He attended Millersvil­le University, where he met and later married Linda. John taught high school math at Upper Perk and Cheltenham, where he became the director of math curriculum. He also tutored, coached baseball, served as youth leader, and earned a master’s degree in education from Villanova University. John was active at Gwynedd Square Presbyteri­an Church as an usher, as well as leading groups, trips, and outings. He enjoyed his retirement playing golf, bowling, and spending time with friends and family. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfathe­r.

He is also survived by his children, Christy Holland of Harleysvil­le, and Kevin Holland of West Philadelph­ia; and his granddaugh­ters, Kyrsten and Allyson.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday evening, January 4, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and again on Friday morning, January 5, 2018 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Gwynedd Square Presbyteri­an Church, 837 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446, where his Funeral Service will be held Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Salford Mennonite Church Cemetery in Harleysvil­le PA.
