A 68-year-old Montgomery Township man will spend at least a decade behind bars for sexually assaulting an underage girl on multiple occasions while she was in his company at a township residence.

Richard Wayne Reimers, of the 100 block of Neshaminy Falls Circle, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 10 to 20 years in a state correctional facility after he pleaded guilty to charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old and corruption of a minor in connection with incidents that occurred between 2007 and 2008.

The victim was as young as 7 years old when the assaults took place and Reimers was 58, according to court papers.

The sentence was imposed by Judge Thomas P. Rogers. Reimers will receive credit for the time he’s been in jail since July 2016.

An investigation of Reimers began in May 2016 when the victim, then a teenager, revealed to child social workers and investigators that she had been sexually abused by Reimers approximately seven to eight years earlier while she was in his company on several occasions.

The girl stated that Reimers forced her to engage in various sex acts while watching pornography during 10 to 20 “sessions” that spanned more than a year, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Montgomery Township Detective Ricardo DeJesus.

The girl told detectives that Reimers told her about sex, would touch her inappropriately and engage in other sexual contact with her, according to court documents.

Reimers encouraged the girl not to tell anyone about the “sessions” because “someone could get mad at her for participating” in them, according to the criminal complaint.

When Reimers was questioned by investigators about the allegations, he admitted to sexually assaulting the child, according to detectives.
