Board starts off 2018: Two new township commissioners have now been seated, and two familiar names have been chosen to lead the board in 2018. New commissioners Denise Hull and Liz McNaney were sworn in Tuesday night by District Judge Suzan Leonard, after the pair of Democrats won election to four-year terms in November. The new board then unanimously chose incumbent commissioner Ken Kroberger to act as board president, and commissioner Jim Santi as vice president, for the coming year. Recently re-elected township tax collector Jane Murray was also sworn in
for a new four-year term on Tuesday, according to township staff. Mike Lapinski, the township’s longtime assistant manager, was formally named to the post of acting township manager after the retirement at the end of 2017 of prior Manager Len Perrone. Finance director Dave Brill was appointed to the post of township treasurer, for a term running through 2019. Each commissioner was also assigned to serve as liaison to several subcommittees and departments, as follows: Finance, personnel, and administration: Kroberger. Public Works and Parks and recreation: Tom Duffy Public Safety, fire, and police: Jim Santi Wastewater collection and treatment: Liz McNaney Zoning and planning: Denise Hull Outside firms and consultants were reappointed to the following positions, all through the end of 2018: Township auditor: Maillie Falconiero. Building inspector: Code Inspections Inc. Zoning officer and planning coordinator: E. Van Rieker. Assistant zoning officer and planning coordinator: Ken Amey. Solicitor: David Onorato, Hladik, Onorato & Federman LLP. Engineer: Russ Benner, T & M Associates. Fire marshal: Jeff Tomczak. Assistant fire marshal: Jeffrey Mulally. Volunteers were also appointed to the following boards, commissions, and bodies: Civil Service Commission: Remesh Desai, for a term running through 2023. Upper Gwynedd Industrial Development Authority: Frederick Hencken, through 2022. Nor-Gwyn Pool Commission: Eric Hanson, through 2022. Parks and Recreation committee: John Murray, Mike Zumpino, Kathleen Johnson, Meredith Ziemba, all through 2021; one position remains vacant. Planning commission: John Klein and Kenneth Weirman, through 2021. Vacancy board: John Murray, through 2018. Zoning hearing board: Henry Ratke and Kirk Field, through 2020.
