Dorothy M. Kelly, 93, of Lansdale, died Friday, January 12, 2018. She was the wife of the late James V. Kelly, who died in 1996.

Born September 5, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Grace (Nicolini) Aloia.

Dorothy Aloia Kelly spent most of her life educating students and influencin­g the lives of thousands of people through her example of how to live life and love all people.

Dot was a teacher for 30+ years in the Yonkers, New York Public School system. Upon her retirement from the Yonkers School System, Dot and her husband Jim moved to Lansdale where she became the Director of the Lansdale Montessori School. Here in Lansdale she continued to teach young children for over 15 years and touch the lives of so many people. She showered teachers, young children and parents and friends with her continuous smile and infectious sense of humor each and every day. We will continue to see that smile in all the people she touched.

Dot gave to her family, the life example, that compassion, laughter and honesty are the hallmarks of treating all people with respect and dignity. Her legacy will be passed on through her family, the children she taught, the parents that she supported and the love she showered on all who knew her.

Survivors include her children, Nicholas Kelly (Carol) of Lake Ariel, PA, Michelle Santacroce (Andrew) of Lansdale, and James V. Kelly (Amy) of Huntington, NY; two sons-in-law, Mark Bodde (Chriss) of Hatfield, and Roger Nickels of Eastcheste­r, NY; ten grandchild­ren; six great-grandchild­ren; and her caretaker, Mary Billy of Harleysvil­le.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Dorothy K. “Dot” Bodde, and Frances “Franny” Nickels; and brother, John Aloia and his wife, Helen.

Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. John’s UCC, 500 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446 followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private in Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY. Arrangemen­ts are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributi­ons be made in Mrs. Kelly’s memory to St. John’s UCC, address above.
