CHC’s Sebold, Tumasz earn weekly honors

Chestnut Hill women’s basketball’s Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove/Archbishop Wood) earned her fourth-straight Central Atlantic College Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week honor Monday after the freshman averaged 17.5 points, 5.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in two wins for the Griffins last week.

Sebold finished with a career-high 25 points, four assists and two rebounds last Wednesday in a 84-74 victory over Post then went had 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals as CHC topped Nyack 8861 last Saturday.

Chestnut Hill’s Vicky Tumasz (North Wales/North Penn), who was named to the conference’s Weekly Honor Roll knocked down six 3-pointers against Nyack and finished with 24 points, five steals, three rebounds and two assists. Tumasz also had 17 points and four rebounds in the Post win.

• Tufts women’s basketball’s Erica DiCandido (North Wales/ Gwynedd Mercy) had 24 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals as the Jumbos defeated UMASS Dartmouth Monday.

Last Saturday, DiCandido recorded her second-straight double-double, going for 15 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two blocks in Tufts’ 61-45 win over Middlebury.

• Lock Haven men’s basketball sophomore Amir Hinton (Philadelph­ia/Abington) became the fastest player in school history to reach 1,000 points as he scored a game-high 25 points in the Bald Eagles’ 86-77 loss to

West Chester last Saturday.

Hinton — who also had five rebounds, three assists and two steals — came into the contest needing 24 points for 1,000 and eclipsed the milestone on a jumper with 21 seconds left.

For West Chester, Tyrell Long (Philadelph­ia/Bishop McDevitt) had 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals, Matt Penecale (Jenkintown/Abington) collected eight points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals while Evan-Eric Longino (Furlong/Germantown Academy) chipped in two points.

Lock Haven’s Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley/ Archbishop Wood) finished with 18 points, two rebounds and two assists.

• Jefferson women’s basketball’s Rachel Day (Horsham/Archbishop Wood), who was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll, scored her 1,000th career point as she finished with a game-high 26 points in the Rams’ 84-70 win over Nyack last Wednesday.

Day registered her 1,000th point with a free throw with 4.1 seconds left. She also collected four rebounds and four assists in the victory.

Erin Maher (Lansdale/ North Penn) had a doubledoub­le, posting 16 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and a pair of blocks. Jess Kaminski (Philadelph­ia/Archbishop Wood) just missed a triple-double, finishing with 12 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists and two steals. Alynna Williams (Ambler/ Plymouth Whitemarsh) added six points, four assists and two rebounds and Caitlyn Cunningham (Dresher/Mount Saint Joseph) scored seven points.

In Jefferson’s 76-66 win over Post last Saturday, Day had 13 points, four rebounds and two assists, Williams had 12 points, 7 assists and three bounds and Maher went for seven points, eight rebounds and four steals.

Cunningham had six points, five rebounds, three assists and two steal with Kaminski having four points, seven rebounds and three assists.

• Allison Gallagher (Souderton/Souderton) finished with 27 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals for the Widener women’s basketball team Monday in the Prides’ 89-83 loss to Cabrini.

Devan Rimmer (Perkasie/Pennridge) collected 10 points, five rebounds and four assists for Widener while Tatiana Pleasant (King of Prussia/Upper Merion) had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.

• Jimmy Murray (Plymouth Meeting/Plymouth Whitemarsh) had a gamehigh 28 points, the last two coming on a pair of free throws with five seconds left in overtime as the Moravian men’s basketball team defeated Catholic 103101 last Saturday.

Murray made eight 3-pointers — one short of tying the school record — and also had four assists, three rebounds and two blocks.

Catholic’s Andre Mitchell (Conshohock­en/Plymouth Whitemarsh) collected 18 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

• Anthony Lee (Willow Grove/Abington) collected his second double-double of the season with 24 points and 10 rebounds in the Kutztown men’s basketball team’s 87-77 win over Millersvil­le last Saturday.

Lee also added three assists, a pair of steals and a block while Max Wagner (Perkasie/Pennridge) finished with 11 points, nine rebounds, three steals and a block for the Golden Bears.

Millersvil­le’s Jordan Greene (Philadelph­ia/ Abington Friends) had eight points, nine rebounds and two steals.

• Army men’s basketball’s Tommy Funk (Warrington/ Archbishop Wood) had 12 points, five assists, two rebounds and two steals as the Black Knights edged Navy 64-62 Sunday.

• Gabbi Wright (Elkins Park/Cheltenham) had 10 points and three rebounds while Taylor Thames (Colmar/North Penn) posted eight points, two assists and two steals as the Kutztown women’s basketball team fell to Millersvil­le 8558 last Saturday.

Keifonna Ferguson (Norristown/Norristown) had four points and four rebounds for KU with Karen Lapkiewicz (Southampto­n/Saint Basil) added two

points and two rebounds.

• Luke Connaghan (Warrington/Archbishop Wood) had a team-high 13 points, Tracy Simsick (Harleysvil­le/Souderton) scored 12 points and the DeSales men’s basketball team defeated FDU-Florham 83-65 last Saturday.

Connaghan also collected six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steal. Simsick grabbed three rebounds.

Mike Bealer (Harleysvil­le/Souderton) chipped in nine points and three rebounds.

• Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown/Jenkintown) had 20 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals as the Gettysburg women’s basketball team defeated Ursinus 64-59 in overtime Sunday at the Palestra.

Lydia Konstanzer (Sellersvil­le/Pennridge) had a game-high 25 points and also collected five rebounds, two steals and two blocks for Ursinus.

Konstanzer had nine points, 13 rebounds, three steals and two assists last Thursday at UC bested Dickinson 58-45.

• Quinnipiac women’s basketball’s Taylor Herd (Quakertown/Lansdale Catholic) had eight points, three rebounds and two assists in the Bobcats’ 86-39 win over Saint Peter’s last Saturday.

• Villanova women’s basketball’s Alex Louin (Doylestown/Mount Saint Joseph) finished with 11 points and five rebounds in the Wildcats’ 70-64 loss to St. John’s Sunday.

• Shawn Witherspoo­n (Philadelph­ia/La Salle) recorded seven points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals in the Nyack men’s basketball team’s 8179 overtime loss to Chestnut Hill last Saturday.

• Jess Huber (Lansdale/ North Penn) had six points and four rebounds, Laura Trisch (Doylestown/Archbishop Wood) went for five points and three rebounds and the USciences women’s basketball team won its eighth straight last Saturday, defeating Dominican (N.Y.) 60-54.

Shannon May (Warminster/Archbishop Wood) chipped in two points and two assists for the Devils while Mikaela Giuliani (Lansdale/North Penn) had two points and two rebounds.

Trisch had seven points, five assists and two blocks as USciences beat Bloomfield 58-50 last Wednesday. Irisa Ye (Lansdale/North Penn) added two points.

• Nicole Munger (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) hit four 3-pointers in scoring 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out three assists as the Michigan women’s basketball team defeated Indiana 84-79 last Wednesday.

Munger then had one points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in the Wolverines’ 6964 overtime win over Nebraska last Saturday.

• Shane Stark (Collegevil­le/La Salle) had nine points, 10 rebounds and eight steals while Zach Quattro (Lansdale/Hatboro-Horsham) finished with seven points and six rebounds as the Ursinus men’s basketball team defeated Gettysburg 63-50 at the Palestra Sunday.

Ryan McTamney (Roxborough/La Salle) added seven points and two rebounds, Brian Rafferty (Harleysvil­le/Lansdale Catholic) had four rebounds and three assists and Zack Muredda (Perkasie/Pennridge) had four rebounds and two assists for UC.

• Josie Barrett (Ambler/Upper Dublin) had nine points and two assists while Makenzie Mason (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) finished with eight points, three rebounds and two assists as the Scranton women’s basketball team topped Goucher 66-41 last Saturday for its eight straight win.

• Washington College women’s basketball’s Cassidy Quattro (Lansdale/ Hatboro-Horsham) had 15 points and four rebounds as the Shorewomen lost to Dickinson 70-62 Sunday at the Palestra.

• Allison Chernow (Dresher/Upper Dublin) had nine points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals while Erin Lindahl (Yardley/Germantown Academy) chipped in four points and eight rebounds as the Emory women’s basketball team bested Case Western Reserve 64-47 Sunday.

• Libby Tacka (Blue Bell/ Mount Saint Joseph) had a team-high 12 points and two rebounds as Army women’s basketball lost to Navy 70-44 Sunday.
