OBITUARIES Diane C. Walton of Lansdale

-

Family, friends and laughter is what surrounded the life of Diane C. Walton, 72, of Lansdale, and what she chose to be surrounded by when she passed into the life eternal on Friday, January 19, 2018 after a courageous 3-year fight with cancer. She was very proud of her loving 52 year marriage to Terrence L. “Terry” Walton. She loved her family and “bragged” about everyone at every and any opportunity. Her family was her life and existence.

Born November 14, 1945 in Bethlehem, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine (Rosenberger) Ruch.

Everyone who knew her knew Diane for her ability to light up a room with her laughter. She was able to make friends wherever she went and was always willing to share her loving smile. Friends and family knew you could not just stop in to see Diane without some sort of feast, which she miraculously made appear at any occasion, especially her baked Mac and cheese and her homemade apple sauce, traditionally fought over by her 12 grandchildren who affectionately called her Grammy “Augie.” A full house was how Diane loved her home. She was an adopted mother to many people including the 12 foreign exchange students that quickly called her mom.

Outside the home, Diane owned and operated their family business, Clyde S. Walton Inc., Lansdale, with her husband, since 1986. Diane was also a longtime volunteer and former president of the North Penn Hospital Auxiliary where she frequently worked in the snack shop. Patients, doctors and visitors would be greeted by her warm comforting smile and listening ear.

Whatever the season, Diane could often be found on the porch her home in Ocean City, NJ where anyone stopping by knew it was always 5 o’clock somewhere.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Melissa Paul (Christopher) of Jacksonville, Fla., Scott Walton (Jennifer) of Lansdale, The Rev. James B. “Jay” Walton of Willow Grove, and Christopher Walton (Hilary Smith) of Upper Dublin; and 12 grandchildren, Alyx, Samantha, Benjamin, Daniel, Jacob, Noah, Ryan, Seth, Ruke, Riley, Jaxon, and Olivia.

Relatives and friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 919 Tennis Ave, Maple Glen, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be private in Garden of Memories of Worcester. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Diane’s memory to St. Baldrick’s Foundation, 1333 South Mayflower Ave., Suite 400, Monrovia, CA 91016 (Team Walton #116837 in memo section) or the Foundation for Women’s Cancer, 230 W. Monroe, Suite 710, Chicago, IL 60606.
