The Rams went on the road Saturday night and won in double overtime against the defending state champions. Sean Yoder led Pennridge with 19 points, while Tyrese Lewis added 16. POTTSGROVE 80, POPE JOHN PAUL II 73 » The Pottsgrove boys basketball team rode out a 14-point first-quarter advantage to seal an 80-73 Pioneer Athletic Conference win over Pope John Paul II on Saturday night in a game that had a big impact on more than just the two teams involved.

As a result, Owen J. Roberts (4-6 PAC Liberty, 14-8 overall) locks up the No. 6 seed in next week’s PAC playoffs, edging out Perkiomen Valley (4-6, 12-10) based on the district-rankings tie-break criteria.

Mike Ziegler led Pottsgrove with a game-high 21 points, Manny Clark scored 14 while Jayden Blakey and Jason Hein each finished with 12 points in the win. The Falcons led 39-25 at the half, giving them enough of an edge to ride out PJP’s late push, as the Golden Panthers used a 48-41 second-half advantage.

Julien Andrews paced PJP with 18 points, Shane McConnell scored 13 while Matt DeLaurenti­s and Colin Loughin scored a respective 12 and 11 points.

WISS AT CB EAST TOURNAMENT » The Trojans managed to come away with 2 victories. Wiss defeated William Tennent 51-27 and Central Bucks West 4039 while losing to Central Bucks East 47-18 and Sun Valley 57-21.

Outstandin­g individual performanc­es were turned in by: freshman Matthew Fritz and junior Charlie Brammer, both going 4-0 on the day. Wrestlers going 3-1 on the day were Senior Brayden Druger and junior Peter Sweeney. Co-Captain Nick Senderling, was also able to go 3-0 on the day and now has 108 career wins placing him 6th on the all-time wins list at Wissahicko­n.

Indoor Track

WISS AT LEHIGH » Fourteen members of the girls indoor track team competed at Lehigh University on Friday. Several team members had personal best performanc­es. Top finishers of the evening included Hayley Ross who placed 11th in 800 meters and Kasi Brown who placed 9th in the high jump. The team will compete next at Swarthmore College on Wednesday February 7th in the DVGTCA Consolatio­n Meet.
