PW grad Murray reaches 1,000 points

Jimmy Murray (Plymouth Meeting/Plymouth Whitemarsh) became the 23rd player in Moravian men’s basketball history to score 1,000 career points as he finished with a career-high 34 points in the Greyhounds 99-81 victory over Elizabetht­own College last Saturday.

Murray came into the game 24 points shy of 1,000 and ended the first half with 23 before reaching the milestone with a 3-pointer 1:14 after halftime. Murray — who also had two steals and assist — went 6-for-6 from 3, and is now fourth in Moravian history with 146 3-pointers.

• Zach Quattro (Lansdale/Hatboro-Horsham) scored a careerhigh 27 points — 20 coming in the first half — as the Ursinus men’s basketball team topped Washington College 87-62 last Saturday.

Quattro made five 3-pointers and also finished with 10 rebounds, five assists and three

blocks as the Bears ended a two-game losing streak.

Also for Ursinus, Ryan McTamney (Roxborough/ La Salle) added 21 points and two assists. Brian Rafferty (Harleysvil­le/Lansdale Catholic) had eight points, eight rebounds and eight assists while Shane Stark (Collegevil­le/ La Salle) chipped in four points, five assists and four rebounds.

Evan-Eric Longino (Furling/Germantown Academy) had 17 points, four rebounds and two assists while Matt Penecale (Jenkintown/Abington) collected 15 points and seven assists for the Golden Rams.

For Kutztown, Anthony Lee (Willow Grove/Abington) connected on six 3-pointers in scoring a career-high 38 points. Lee also had five rebounds and a pair of assists. Max Wagner (Perkasie/Pennridge) added five points, two rebounds and two assists

• Quinnipiac women’s basketball’s Taylor Herd (Quakertown/Lansdale Catholic) scored 14 points — knocking down four 3-pointers — and had three steals and two assists to help the Bobcats earn their 14th straight win in a 90-47 rout of Iona Sunday.

• Jess Huber (Lansdale/ North Penn) finished with eight points and two rebounds, Irisa Ye (Lansdale/ North Penn) had seven points and two steals and the USciences women’s basketball team won its 14th straight — tied for the second-longest win streak in program history — by rolling past Concordia 81-56 last Saturday.

Penn) added four points, two rebounds, two assists and a block, Mary Kate Brokans (Lansdale/Lansdale Catholic) scored four points while Shannon May (Warminster/Archbishop Wood) posted five rebounds, three assists and a steal for the Devils. Laura Trisch (Doylestown/Archbishop Wood) chipped in three points.

• Villanova women’s basketball’s Alex Louin (Doylestown/Mount Saint Joseph) had 15 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists as the Wildcats edged Georgetown 68-67 last Saturday.

• Luke Connaghan (Warrington/Archbishop Wood) had a double-double — 16 points and 13 rebounds along with three steals — while Tracy Simsick (Harleysvil­le/Souderton) collected seven points, three assists and two rebounds

as the DeSales men’s basketball team rallied from an nine-point halftime deficit to beat FDU-Florham 82-80 last Saturday.

• Jefferson women’s basketball Alynna Williams (Ambler/Plymouth Whitemarsh) and Caitlyn Cunningham (Dresher/ Mount Saint Joseph) were both named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll Monday after helping the Rams go 3-0 last week.

Williams’ jumper with 12 seconds left gave Jefferson a 63-62 win over Felician last Saturday. Williams finished with 12 points, Erin Maher (Lansdale/North Penn) and Rachel Day (Horsham/Archbishop Wood) both scored 14 points — Day grabbing 7 rebounds — with Jessica Kaminski (Philadelph­ia/ Archbishop Wood) collecting a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Day also hit two 3-pointers to tie the school record for career 3-pointers at 228.

Last Thursday, Cunning ham had 24 points and seven assists while Williams had 22 points in a 8363 victory over Washington Adventist.

Maher and Williams both scored 12 points last Tuesday in the Rams’ 86-55 win over Georgian Court. Cunningham chipped in 12 points.

• Devan Rimmer (Perkasie/Pennridge) scored a game-high 22 points to go along with three rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block as the Widener women’s basketball team outlasted Stevenson 77-73 in double overtime last Saturday.

Allison Gallagher (Souderton/Souderton) finished with 13 points, four rebounds, two steals and a block while Tatiana Pleasant (King of Prussia/Upper

Merion) posted five points, 10 rebounds, a steal and a block for the Pride.

• Chestnut Hill women’s basketball’s Vicky Tumasz (North Wales/North Penn) had 12 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals while Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove/Archbishop Wood) chipped in six points and two assists in the Griffins’ 75-64 win over Goldey-Beacom last Tuesday.

• Erin Lindahl (Yardley/ Germantown Academy) had 10 points, five rebounds and four steals while Allison Chernow (Dresher/Upper Dublin) chipped in two points and two rebounds as the Emory women’s basketball team lost to Washington (Mo.) 75-63 Sunday.

In last Friday’s 72-63 loss to Chicago, Lindahl went for 13 points, three rebounds and two steals with Chernow contributi­ng nine points and three rebounds.
