Grace Bible Church hosting free community Easter dinner.

Now in its fifth year, Grace Bible Church’s free community Easter dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31.

“The dinner is an outgrowth of the community Easter egg hunt that previously was held at the church for a number of years,” Carol Doyle, one of the organizers, wrote in an email.

“The church and community partners have come together to organize the dinner which saw 200 in attendance last year,” she said. “On the menu is baked ham, macaroni and cheese, pineapple stuffing, green beans, carrots, salad and a variety of desserts.”

Last year’s meal included 180 pounds of ham, she said.

“Easter is the high point of celebration in the Christian calendar. Jesus has been raised from the dead and welcomes all people to the great feast of salvation in the Kingdom of God,” Pastor David Dunbar said in the email. “In recognition of God’s hospitality to us, the congregation of Grace Bible Church invites members of the surrounding community to share an Easter meal with us.”

A hundred volunteers helped out with last year’s meal, Doyle said.

Betty and Charlie Hottenstein have volunteered at the Easter dinner each year as they continue to find ways to honor their daughter, Tracy, who passed away unexpectedly in 2009, she said.

“Tracy always thought of others first,” Charlie Hottenstein said.

“In some small way, as we each do something for others, we honor Tracy, and we can help to make our community and the world a better place,” Betty Hottenstein said.

Kathy Jansen, of Generations of Indian Valley, donates her time preparing trays of pineapple stuffing for the dinner, Doyle said.

“We’ve always appreciated the support of our community and are glad to support and be part of Grace Bible’s community Easter dinner,” Jansen said.

Grace Bible Church is located at 423 Main St. in Souderton. The church bus will pick up residents of Grundy Manor in Telford and Valley Vista in Souderton who need a ride to the dinner. The bus will arrive at Valley Vista at 4:15 p.m. and at Grundy Manor by 4:30 p.m., Doyle said.

Those who would like to attend are asked to RSVP by Wednesday, March 28, by calling 215-723-3992, sending an email to info@gracebiblesoud- erton.org or clicking on goo.gl/forms/0otR8LUAgTsD39hm2.
