Moove In acquires 3 area properties
No plans submitted yet for former car dealership
The former TriCounty Chrysler dealership, 2148 East High Street in Lower Pottsgrove, is one of three area properties purchased in January by York-based Moove in Self Storage.
In addition to the former dealership, the company acquired B&S Self Storage in Lower Pottsgrove (175 S. Pleasant View Road) and Douglassville (604 Benjamin Franklin Highway).
At the time the acquisition was announced, Moove in Self Storage said it would convert the former dealership property and would expand the Douglassville location. Those plans would add an additional 140,000 square feet of storage to the company’s storage portfolio.
The former car dealership, which sits on 6.39 acres, was purchased by Moove In Partners-Pottstown LLC for $2.4 million, according to Montgomery County property records. Purchase price data was not available for the other two locations.
Since the purchase, however, there has been no movement on the planned conversion of the dealership site in Lower Pottsgrove. A spokeswoman for the company said there is no timetable for the work to begin at that location.
However, according to township manager Ed Wagner, no plans have been submitted to Lower Pottsgrove for that site
on E. High Street.
Wagner said the township had an initial conversation with representatives from the company about six weeks ago, but has had no additional conversations. He added that the company’s planned use for that site as a self-storage facility is not one of the allowed uses for that location.
“They would need to go to zoning and ask for a ‘use variance’ and they would have to provide reasons why it should be an allowed use for the location,” Wagner said Thursday.
No other details about plans for the site were available from the company.
The storage property in Douglassville was built in 1988 and consists of four single story buildings with all drive-up access storage
units as well as 70 outdoor parking spaces. The property has 132 self-storage units for rent that total 14,100-square-feet. The property also offers security cameras, perimeter fencing and a gate with electronic keypad entrance.
The storage property on Pleasant View Road in Lower Pottsgrove was built in 1974 and consists of three single story buildings with all drive-up access storage units as well as 38 outdoor parking spaces. The property also offers a rental office, security cameras, perimeter fencing and a gate with electronic keypad entrance.

Neither of the self-storage facilities stopped operating during the transition to the new ownership, according
to Jess Dubbs, director of marketing for Investment Real Estate Management LLC.
She added that business operations at the two facilities have been since the transition. In an emailed response to questions, she indicated the company’s website is “robust, with a comprehensive blog.” She added that customers have the option of making online rentals and reservations as well as a payment portal.
Moove in Self Storage opened its first facility in 1997 and has since expanded to 21 facilities located in York, Lancaster, Berks, Montgomery and Huntingdon counties in Pennsylvania; Baltimore County in Maryland; and Sussex County in New Jersey. For more information, visit www.moovein.com.
