North Penn comes into the spring with a lot of youth on its roster, but also has plenty of veteran leadership to point the way.

“It’s so unique at North Penn. We never have a team that’s the same year in and year out,” said senior distance ace Brendan O’Toole. “We have a very young team, and as the old guys, we’re just trying to shape it for the future.

“Because we know we might not have spectacular teams right now, but the future is important to us too as alumni. So we’re just trying to teach the young guys the ropes and get them ready for what’s to come.”

O’Toole began the spring in style, winning the 3,200 and placing second in the 1,600 when the Knights traveled to Pennridge this past Tuesday. The Rams, vying for their fourth straight Suburban One League Continental Conference title this season, earned the 93-57 victory.

The Knights, with runners like O’Toole along with hurdler C.J. Young and thrower Tyreece Duke, should be a team on the rise, one to watch come early May.

Cardinals fly

The Upper Dublin girls are picking up right where they left off.

Madison Langley-Walker had a tremendous meet against Upper Moreland, winning three events to help the Cards prevail 115-35.

Langley-Walker, one of the top performers in the state, took first in the long jump (18-feet-5), high jump (5-0) and 100 hurdles (14.73).

Also impressive for Upper Dublin was Sabrina Taylor, fastest in the 100 and 200 dashes.

Fast start for Warriors

The Methacton boys got off to a strong start

last Saturday at the Upper Darby Relays, winning the 4x100 relay in 45.01, in a field of 18 teams.

Also for the Warriors, Alex Yablonski raced to third in the 300 hurdles,

crossing in 42.55.

Methacton’s 4x4 hurdle foursome pushed to third in 42.55 and the Warrior distance medley relay earned second in 11:17.77.
