LANSDALE » The March winner of Lansdale’s Business of the Month award is one that has brought a dash of color and creativity — one could even say personalization — to the town.
La’ Personalization Boutique and owner Diane Beach received the award from borough Economic Development Committee member Mark Ladley Wednesday night, as Ladley said the business has been a welcome addition to the town.
“For the past several years La’ Personalization Boutique has stood as a charming addition to our downtown community, inviting shoppers in with its beautifully adorned front windows, complete with creative embroidery, dolls, crafts and more,” Ladley said.
Located at 305 W. Main St., La’ Personalization started in 1990, when Beach began making products in her dining room to sell at local craft fairs and holiday bazaars, all while working a full time job. As he spoke, Ladley showed slides of the various handcrafted goods available at La Personalization, including dolls, stuffed animals, bags, flags, clothes and more.
“Over the years, she continued to work at her full time job in the medical field, and in the evenings worked tirelessly on creating unique and fun gifts,” Ladley said.
“It wasn’t long before she noticed the popularity of many of the products, and began receiving requests for orders from coworkers, neighbors, and friends of friends,” he said.
In 2008, Beach took the leap from hobby to business, applying her individual touch and skills to gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, baby showers, and any other holiday a customer can think of.
“Today, La’ Personalization Boutique is known for its attention to detail and exceptional ability to create a variety of products, that do everything from inspire the imagination and evoke childlike whimsy, to embroidering sophisticated professional and corporate logos,” Ladley said.
The business also hosts “Make it, Take it” parties where visitors of all ages can make anything from simple dolls to silk scarves, and monthly workshops on sewing and stitching, so visitors can learn to make their own stuffed animals, pillow cases, dresses, bags, belts and more.
“They have become a valuable member of our downtown community, and have helped enhance Lansdale’s appeal — including by attracting a variety of businesses that complement their own offerings,” Ladley said.
