Swiger named PSAC East Co-Athlete of Week

Upper Dublin graduate went 10-for-15 last week

Bloomsburg’s Cole Swiger (Maple Glen/Upper Dublin) was named Pennsylvan­ia State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Baseball Eastern Division Co-Athlete of the Week Monday as he went 10for-15 with six runs scored, three RBIs and a home run as the Huskies won three of four against Shippensbu­rg last weekend to sit tied for first in the division with Lock Haven at 5-1.

Last Friday, Swiger went 1-for-3 with a run scored as BU opened the doublehead­er with a 5-0 victory. Swiger then went 3-for-4 with a double in the nightcap as the Huskies bested the Raiders 8-0.

A day later, Bloomsburg split its doublehead­er with Shippensbu­rg. Swiger was 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs in a 5-4 win in game one while he went 2-for-4 and scored the Huskies’ lone run in their 5-1 loss.

• DeSales baseball’s Andrew Schuler (Collegevil­le/Perkiomen Valley) earned MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week honors Monday after striking out 10 and allowing just two walks in throwing a one-hit completega­me shutout last Saturday in the Bulldogs’ 2-0 win over Eastern University.

• Arcadia men’s golf’s Kyle Henofer (Sellersvil­le/Pennridge) was named MAC Commonweal­th Golfer of the Week Monday. Henofer led the Knights with a 5-over 76 to finish in third place at the Scotland Run Shootout last Saturday at Scotland Run Golf Club in Wil-

liamstown, New Jersey.

• Kutztown softball’s Sara Keeny (Warminster/ William Tennent) collected her 10th and 11th multi-hit games of the season as the Golden Bears lost twice to Shippensbu­rg last Saturday.

Keeny went 2-for-4 in the first game — KU falling 6-2 — while the junior finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored as the Kutztown were edged 3-2 in the second game.

Gabby Tareila (Limerick/Spring-Ford) had a hit in each game for Kutztown and also had an RBI in the second contest.

• La Salle baseball freshman pitcher Colin Kennedy (Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham) earned his first career victory as the Explorers won their first Atlantic 10 game of the season 10-2 over Saint Joseph’s last Saturday.

Kennedy gave up two runs — both earned — on eight hits in six innings on the mound. He walked just one and struck out five.

• Michael Sowers (Dresher/Upper Dublin) tied a career high with six assists and also scored a pair of goals for the Princeton men’s lacrosse team as the Tigers were edged by Brown 14-13 last Saturday.

Sowers, a sophomore, is now 12th all-time in Princeton career assists at 72 and is tied for 24th in points with 127.

• Timothy Brodhag (Warminster/William Tennent)

hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Jefferson baseball team a 4-3 victory over Felician in the second game of a doublehead­er last Saturday.

Daniel Sabath (Perkasie/ Dock Mennonite) pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win for the Rams, allowing one hit and striking out one.

Brodhag went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs in the opening game last Saturday as Jefferson lost 11-7.

• Ben Chinnici (Sellersvil­le/Pennridge) collected 12 kills, seven digs, two blocks and two aces last Friday as the Ball State men’s volleyball team rallied for a 3-2 (18-25, 25-21, 21-25, 2518, 21-19) win over Lindenwood.

Last Saturday, Chinnici finished with nine kills, five digs and five blocks in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-16) win over Quincy University that improved the Cardinals to 15-11 overall and 8-4 in the Midwestern Intercolle­giate Volleyball Associatio­n (MIVA).

• Arcadia softball’s Jackie Bilotti (North Wales/North Penn) droves in a pair of runs with a single then later scoring in the second inning as the Knights topped Alvernia 8-3 in the second game of a doublehead­er last Thursday. Bilotti also collected a hit in the team’s opening game with ended in Arcadia picking up a 6-4 victory.

• Millersvil­le baseball’s Andrew Mayhew (Perkasie/Pennridge) earned his first career save, allowing no runs or hits in 2/3

innings as the Marauders beat Kutztown 4-2 in the second game of a doublehead­er last Friday.

• Mikki Raymond (Abington/Abington) scored two goals while Maddie Dachowski (Perkasie/Pennridge) added a goal as a La Salle women’s lacrosse team fell to George Mason 12-11 last Saturday.

• Jared Melone (North Wales/North Penn) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored while Justin Horn (Willow Grove/ Upper Dublin) finished 1-for-4 with a run scored as the West Chester baseball team bested East Stroudsbur­g 4-3 in eight innings in Game 1 of a doublehead­er last Saturday.

In the second game — a 14-6 WCU victory — Melone scored twice while Horn had one run scored.

• Victoria Braeunle (Lansdale/North Penn) had three goals and four assists while Lauren Mitros (Glenside/Bishop McDevitt) scored three times as the Gwynedd Mercy women’s lacrosse team rolled past Centenary 20-2 last Wednesday. Jamie McCarney (Warminster/William Tennent) collected three ground balls for the Griffins.

• Alex Tappen (Lower Gwynedd/Wissahicko­n) had a pair of RBIs in Virginia baseball’s 10-7 victory over Pitt last Friday.

Cabrini men’s lacrosse freshman Nick Werner (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) scored his first collegiate goal in the Cavaliers’ 24-8 win over Neumann last Thursday.
