Methacton shuts out Council Rock South

Sydney Tornetta collected five goals and assists as the Methacton girls la- crosse team shut out visiting Council Rock South 11-0 for a non-league victory Saturday.

Katy Benton and Mia Sheldon both finished with two goals and an assist for the Warriors (3-3, 2-1 PAC Liberty), who led 7-0 at halftime.

BRACKET » Pennridge advanced to the gold bracket at Northeaste­rn’s Bobcat Invitation­al Saturday before falling to Hempfield in the bracket’s first round 1512, 15-8.

The Rams went 2-2 in pool play — beating Red Land and Dover, falling to Cocalico and Emmaus — then swept Warwick 15-13, 15-12 in the play-in round.

For the Invitation­al, Cross Edwards had 35 kills, 15 and four aces. Corey Quaste collected 60 assists, 14 digs and six blocks while Jeremy Pruss had 31 digs and two aces.

WHIPPET » Souderton had some standout performanc­es at the Whippet Invitation­al at Downingtow­n West High School Friday.

Kyle Jia took third in the shot put with a throw of 449.5; the 4x100-meter relay of Kobi Bui, Trevor Melton, Willie Goods and Deandre Wakefield placed sixth with a 45.66; and Josiah Moyer grabbed eighth in the 1,600 with a 4:37.66.

The Indians host Quakertown on Thursday.

SPRING-FORD’S PAJOVICH, MCKENNA WIN AT GOLDEN

RAM » Spring-Ford earned two first-place finishes at the Golden Ram Invitation­al Friday at West Chester University with Jake Pajovich winning the javelin (159’2”) and Jacob McKenna taking gold in the 3200 (9:48.30).

The Rams went 1-2 in the 3200 as Shane Ainscoe took silver in the event in 10:09.42. Also finishing second for Spring-Ford were Zach Smith in the 800 (2:01.10) and the 4x400 relay of Trevor Detwiler, Blaize Scarcelle, JT Clark and Josiah Chapman (3:35.86).

SPRING-FORD’S BAMFORD WINS 3200 AT GOLDEN RAM » Gabriella Bamford won the 3200 with a time of 11:41.41 and also ran on SpringFord’s first-place 4x800 relay team at the Golden Ram Invitation­al Friday at West Chester University.

Bamford ran with Emily Smith, Julia Vledder and Brooke Donaghuer to claim gold in the 4x8 in 9:45.89. The foursome also took third in the 4x400 in 4:13.94.

Spring-Ford freshman Maura Baker threw a district-qualifying mark in the shot put, as she finished she could with an effort or 33’10”. Also placing secon for the Rams were Brigitte Smith in the discus (106’5”) and Lily Nowakowski in the 100 meters (13.07).
