Upper Merion softball rallies in 7th for walk-off win over Phoenixville

Alexis Ettore delivered a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh as Upper Merion softball team scored four runs in the inning to rally past Phoenixville for a 4-3 PAC Frontier victory Thursday.

Ettore went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Emily Reid was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Vikings.

Nicole Bowen went 2-for-2 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored for the Golden Panthers.

NORTH PENN 17, CB EAST 6 » Joe Picozzi hit two home runs — a three-run blast followed by a grand slam — as the North Penn baseball team scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning as the Knights rolled past over Central Bucks East in five innings Wednesday.

Billy Collins added another grad slam in the fourth for North Penn (6-1, 3-0 SOL Continental) while Picozzi finished 2-for-2 with seven RBIs and three runs scored. Atlee Hasson finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 6, UPPER MORELAND 2 (9) » Hatboro-Horsham score a run in the top of the sixth to tie Wednesday’s SOL American then earned the win with five runs in the ninth.

Anthony Bruno was 2-for-5 with an RBI for the Hatters (2-3, 2-1 conference). Thomas Longstreth went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Upper Moreland (0-2, 0-2).

Girls Lacrosse

UPPER MERION 8, PHOENIXVILLE 7 » Catherine Merritt scored three goals while Anya Waller made 14 saves as Upper Merion edged Phoenixville for a PAC Frontier win Thursday.

Molly Weygand and Riley O’Malley both had two goals for the Vikings.

SOUDERTON 10, SPRINGFIELD (M)7» Carlie Doughty had four goals and an assist as Souderton handed Springfield its first loss in the SOL American opener for both teams.

Sarah Goodwin and Liz O’Hara both scored twice while Goodwin had a pair of assists for the Indians (32, 1-0 conference), who have won three straight.

SOUDERTON 11 SPRINGFIELD (M) 6 » Cole Witoslawski found the back of the net four times and also had an assist as Souderton topped Springfield for an SOL American win Thursday.

Stephen Blue and Walker Martin both scored twice for the Indians — who led 7-1 at halftime — while Blue dished out three assists.

PERK VALLEY 5, BOYERTOWN 3» Brian Fehr and Nick Steele both scored twice as Perkiomen Valley picked up a PAC Liberty victory over Boyertown Thursday.

Matt Brock was 9-off-11 on faceoffs and also collected seven ground balls for the Vikings.

HOLY GHOST PREP 8, WISSAHICKON 2 » Harrison Williams and John Dickson scoed for Wissahickon as it fell in Wednesday’s nonleague matchup.

Owen Baim collected an assist on Williams’ goal while Matt Fritz was 7-of-12 on faceoffs for the Trojans.
