GA boys win InterAC title

The Germantown Academy boys track and field team won the interac championsh­ip this afternoon at Episcopal Academy. The girls team finished third in the team standings.

Senior Kyle Garland won four events and was named the meet’s most valuable athlete. This is the third consecutiv­e year Garland has won this honor. He won the long jump and 300 hurdles with new personal bests, breaking both of his own school records. He also won the high jump and the 110 hurdles, where he set a new league record of 13.85.

Also setting a new league record was Caleb Johnson, who won the pole vault with a 15-10 clearance.

Also for GA, Ola Abinusawa won the discus and javelin, finished second in the shot put, and 5th in the triple jump.

Kevin Lamb finished 2nd in the 300 hurdles and long jump (setting a big PR in the latter), and also finished 4th in the 110 hurdles.

Michael Capone finished 2nd in the 100 and 3rd in the 200. The 4x800 team of Danny Ritz, Bradford Azizi, Matt Sandifer, and Drew Sandifer finished second. The 4x100 team of Lamb, Johnson, Daelyn Nwaobasi, and Ca-

pone finished second.

Freshman Robert DiDonato finished third in the 3200 and fourth in the 1600. Sophomore Matt Sandifer finished 4th in the 3200. Jordan Brahin finished 2nd in discus and 3rd in javelin

Mason Fleischer finished 3rd in discus and 5th in javelin

On the girls side, Meaghan Toscano set three new league records, winning the shot put, discus, and javelin.

Sophomore Issy Goldstein won both the 1600 and the 3200. This is the sixth straight year that a GA athlete has won these two events at the league meet.

Freshman Quartnei Brown won the pole vault in 10-0. Mia Costonis was third and Destiny Mayfield finished 6th.

Senior Kelsey O’Hara earned two thirds in the 200 and 400, running personal bests in both (the 400 broke her own school record).

Junior Cobree Hooper finished third in the 100 hurdles in a personal best time.

Molly Oeth finished fourth in the high jump and fifth in the 400. Sasha Capers finished 5th in the long jump and 6th in the triple jump. The 4x400 team of Oeth, Anna Hennessy, Goldstein, and O’Hara finished 2nd in 4:06.22, breaking the school record from 2007 (4:06.54). The 4x800 of Mackenzie Pasquerell­a, Gabby Manosis, Gianna Murgia, and Anna Hennessy earned fifth place. The 4x100 of Hooper, Costonis, Dara Kaufman, and O’Hara earned fourth place.
