Knights get 8 on All-SOL Continental teams

Co-champion North Penn had a conference-high eight players earn All-Suburban One League Continental Softball all-league honors lead by a pair of first team selections in senior Emily Groarke at outfield and sophomore Paige Paciolla at designated player.

Central Bucks South, which won the District 1-6A title and shared the Continental crown with the Knights, paced the conference with three first-team picks — senior Alex DeLeon at shortstop, junior Kylie Kenney at pitcher and junior Alexa Ortman at outfield.

Pennridge and Central Bucks East joined North Penn in getting two players on the first team — for the Rams, senior Skylar Hengeveld at catcher and junior Morgan Henry at first base and for East senior Tara Harper at second base and senior Audrey LaBouliere at outfield. Pennridge also received the Continental’s Sportsmanship Award.

Central Bucks West senior Angelina Sherba (pitcher) and William Tennent junior Brianna Koonce (third base) was also named to the first team. Sherba also earned third-team honors at third base.

Souderton had a total of seven All-SOL Continental picks with

five Indians selected to the second team. North Penn and Central Bucks South both qualified for the PIAA Class 6A Tournament, which begins Monday. North Penn faces St. Hubert in the first round 1:30 p.m. at Arcadia University while South — which won its first district title since 2010 — takes on Neshaminy 5 p.m. at Plymouth Whitemarsh.
