BUCKS COUNTY COURTHOUSE » A Lansdale man was sentenced to four to eight years in state prison after pleading guilty June 19 to charges including aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence in connection with a 2017 crash in Perkasie that seriously injured the driver of the other vehicle, the Bucks County District Attorney’s office said in a release.

David McDevitt Jr., 46, had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.204 percent and was driving 62 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone when his 2000 Chevrolet Suburban SUV crashed into a 1995 Volvo 940 sedan about 9:30 p.m. July 20, 2017, in the 1000 block of North Ridge Road, Perkasie, investigators said. The crash pushed the Volvo’s engine compartment halfway into the passenger area and rescue workers had to use the Jaws of Life to remove the Volvo’s driver, the DA’s office said.

The Volvo’s driver, of Quakertown, who was 22 at the time, needed surgery and extensive physical therapy for a fractured wrist and femur and wrote in a victim impact statement that he has still not fully recovered, the DA’s office said.

McDevitt pleaded guilty to aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, driving under the influence and disregarding traffic lanes, the DA’s office said. He was sentenced by Bucks County Judge Jeffrey Trauger to four to
