D. Marguerite Knerr of Harleysville; Rose M. Luke of Harleysvlle.
D. Marguerite Knerr, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Harleysville on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. She was the wife of the late Fred Knerr for nearly 58 years.
Born June 4, 1927, in Silverdale, she was the daughter of the late Robert K. and Mabel V. (Wisler) Yoder.
Having grown up in Morwood then Souderton, Marguerite graduated from Souderton High School. During her summers she waitressed at various hotels in Atlantic City.
In 1945, her brother, Kenneth, was assigned to the same ship as Fred Knerr. Fred began writing to Marguerite after seeing her photo. They married in California in December, 1946, and lived in Southern California until returning to Pennsylvania in 1952.
Marguerite’s career in bookkeeping and accounting began at American Olean Tile, Hunter Spring, Nicolet among others, and she occasionally worked as a waitress at the former Perosa Inn and Wm. Penn Inn. She retired as a Tax Processor from American Friends Service Committee in Philadelphia, where she was responsible for a worldwide payroll.
Marguerite enjoyed traveling across the country, and to Canada as well as Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She also enjoyed music from Glenn Miller to Hall and Oates. Most importantly she loved having her family close and spending time with them.
Marguerite is survived by her four daughters, Pamela Linderman of Harleysville, Beverly Muscarella of Lansdale, Joan Waldspurger of Woolford, MD and Kriste Knerr of Harleysville; grandchildren: Stefanie Giampa (Tony), Jennifer Gilbert (Rickey), James Muscarella (Rose), Gina Devlin (Ryan), Lisa and Lori Muscarella, Gretchen Wills, Travis Waldspurger (fiancée, Kaytlyn), Trevor Waldspurger. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Gallo of Norcross, Georgia, as well as many loving brothersand sisters-in-law, 12 great grandchildren, one greatgreat-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Kenneth Yoder, Marilyn Schuetz, Larry Yoder and Jay Yoder, brothers-in-law Robert Schuetz and Thomas Gallo, sons-in-law Michael Muscarella and David Waldspurger, and a great-granddaughter Caitlyn Liebel.
A private memorial gathering will be held for family and close friends.
